ECOMMERCE RETAILER CASE STUDY
How our Melbourne web design team helped a ecommerce retailer turn its website into a dependable source of new business, with a strategy-led redesign built around what its customers actually need.
THE CHALLENGE
This growing online retailer had a loyal customer base but an online store that made buying harder than it needed to be. Product categories were confusing, filters did not work well on mobile and the checkout asked for too much information before showing delivery costs. Many shoppers added items to their cart and then disappeared.
The team also spent hours each week on manual updates because the store was difficult to manage behind the scenes.
OUR APPROACH
We reviewed analytics, recorded where shoppers dropped off and mapped the buying journey from first visit to order confirmation. That research showed three clear priorities: make products easier to find, make product pages more persuasive and remove every unnecessary step from checkout.
We reorganised the catalogue around how customers actually shop, planned smarter filtering and designed a streamlined checkout with delivery information shown early and guest checkout available for first-time buyers.
THE DESIGN
The new store pairs clean, image-led product grids with detailed product pages featuring clear pricing, size and delivery information, and reassurance about returns. On mobile, sticky add-to-cart buttons and simplified filters make browsing quick and comfortable.
We also improved the admin experience, so stock, promotions and new products can be managed in minutes rather than hours, giving the team more time to focus on growth.
RESULTS
The new website launched with a clearer message, a faster experience and a simpler path to getting in touch. Here is what changed in the months after launch.
